Welcome from the Whisperers

Welcome from the whisperers... The artists of the Whisper Collaboration invite you to share our journey. Twelve artists, each begining with a theme, will carry out a visual game of "Chinese Whispers". Our book pages will travel between us, each collaborator adding their own interpretation of the theme. The trick will be that only the originating artist will know what the theme is! It's up to the rest of us to decipher that theme only from the work of the previous artist and the set of 'page clues' that will grow as the collaboration progresses! Here on our blog, we will share images of the clues, and perhaps some other tantalising snippets of information...all adding to the intrigue. Join us, and see if you can guess each artists theme as the books progress!

Olley's update

Hello my friends, I am excited to be back & sharing a blog or two. I gave a bookbinding workshop today & Tracey was one of my keen students. We talked about whispers & where we were up to - I have nearly finished my page - Tracey hasn't started. But hey who's keeping track?!? I was keen to get started way back in December but I was at work at the time & the only thing I could use out of my little studio there was some cereal boxes I had collected for book making. So I can tell you only that my pages are square, made out of cereal boxes, I couldn't decide between 2 themes so I have combined them, I have used ALL my favourite colours & I had a whole lot of fun doing it. I have a tinsy little bit left to complete then it will be all ready to send at the end of the month. I am really looking forward to this collaboration - I hope you all have as much fun as I did in creating my first page. Next blog I will post a photo of my new hairdo - there is not much hair left really - it's hot & hair is extremely over rated anyway! I start a new job on Tuesday - admin traineeship at the power station. Woohoo - can't wait. Take care, Happy Creating, Love Olley.

Olley, I'm pleased to report that I at least have come up with a theme and a bit of plan now! Your book binding must have calmed my mind enough to let something emerge. By the time I got home, I had it all figured out! Had the best day yesterday - wish I could do it all again today!

Hi Olley,
I will wait eagerly to see your new 'hair do'...I agree that hair is overrated, my eldest daughter Brooke and I decided to shave our heads just prior to Christmas, hers down to a number 3 blade mine to a number two...sooo cool, so easy to look after. I've let it 'grow' for the past several weeks because I need a little hair to keep me warm when I'm in Ohio and New York in March, it will be cold, possibly snowing! I'll still take a really warm beannie with me!
Great to hear that your book binding workshop was well received! You are a star bookbinder.
What's this about a new job? Does this mean you don't have the shoe shop anymore??
Oh, also, love the little teaser's you have offered about your 'whispers' book!!!

Hi Tracey, Glad to hear you have a theme at last. Next time you feel a little bogged down & can't think what to create - go make a book & calm yourself!
Hi Peta, I will post a photo soon - although you can see it on Tracey's blog at the moment as she blogged about her bookbinding experience. I still have the shop & have started an admin traineeship at the power station. It's great. Talk soon, Olley.
